Croissant recipe using margarine
Description
Perfect for tea and coffee. In our family, we love making these rolls with poppy seeds and nut filling. During berry and fruit season, I make a thick filling (cooking berries with starch) so it doesn't leak and the rolls don't burn. You can also use apples, dried fruits, caramel, or even cottage cheese. They only take 15 minutes to bake, so this margarine-based roll recipe can be considered simple and quick.

Step 1

1. The dough for croissants is very easy to prepare: pour two cups of flour into a deep bowl, add the margarine cut into pieces or grated, and start chopping it with a knife, then thoroughly mix everything with your hands. You should end up with a crumbly mixture.

Step 2

2. Then add baking soda and sour cream, along with as much flour as the dough will absorb. Add vanilla to taste as well. The dough should have a consistency similar to dumpling dough. On average, I use about 4 cups of flour. Be sure to sift it to enrich it with oxygen. After kneading, let the dough rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Step 3

3. Remove the dough from the refrigerator, divide it into portions, and roll each portion out very thinly. The thinner you roll the dough, the more tender the rolls will be. Cut the dough lengthwise into wide strips, then slice each strip into triangles with a knife.

Step 4

4. Place any filling of your choice and roll the croissant from the wide end to the narrow end. Place them very carefully onto the baking sheet.

Step 5

5. Before baking, you can brush them with egg. Bake the rolls for about 15-20 minutes at 180 degrees. Let them cool, then sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Step 6

6. If you like golden-brown croissants, leave them in the oven longer, but they are done well before they turn golden.
