Description

Perfect for the table and with drinks. To deliciously prepare Korean-style rapana, you'll need the simplest vegetables and seasoning, which you can now buy at any grocery store. Add soy sauce gradually — you may need more or less depending on the concentration. Serve with herbs and sauce.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Peel the carrots, onions, and garlic, and wash them together with the dill under running water. Thaw the whelks in advance.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Thawed rapana whelks are already cooked, so pour boiling water over them and leave for about 5 minutes, or boil for 1 minute.

    Step 3

Pour oil into a skillet, add the onion sliced into half-moons, and sauté for 2–3 minutes.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Drain the whelks in a colander, let them drain completely, then cut into thin strips and transfer to a deep bowl.

  5. 5

    Step 5

Grate the carrots on a special grater and add them to the bowl with the rapana.

Add the sautéed onion to the bowl and pour the hot oil from the pan over everything.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Add Korean-style carrot seasoning, add minced garlic, pour in vinegar and soy sauce, and season lightly with pepper. Add the soy sauce gradually; if it is concentrated, one spoonful will be enough.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Mix the contents of the bowl and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, although it will taste good immediately after preparation.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

From time to time, stir the appetizer so everything marinates evenly. After a while, taste the rapana for salt; if it is to your liking, add the chopped dill and stir.

    Step 10

Transfer the finished Korean-style rapana to a serving bowl, drizzle with the remaining marinade, and serve.
