
Wheat kutya
Description
This dish is very filling, so at our family's Christmas Eve dinner, everyone tastes it with just one or two teaspoons. Thus, this dish is enough for 8–10 people. Wheat "rich" kutya contains many vitamins essential during cold weather. Moreover, it is believed that the richer the composition of kutya, the better the harvest and prosperity will be in the family.

1. To prepare kutia, you will need wheat, poppy seeds, raisins, walnuts, and honey.

2. Wheat should first be boiled until cooked. I spent about 1.5 hours on this.

3. While the rice is cooking, pour 1 cup of boiling water over the poppy seeds, cover with a lid, and let it steep for half an hour.

4. Finely chop the nuts and toast them for about 5 minutes in a dry skillet.

5. Pour boiling water over the raisins, let them soak for 10 minutes, then drain and dry on a paper towel.

6. Grind poppy seeds in a mortar until milk appears.

7. Add raisins, nuts, and wheat to the poppy seeds. Add 3 tablespoons of honey and a pinch of salt.
