Soaking syrup for chocolate sponge cake
Description
The recipe won't take much time. It's simplest to prepare the soaking syrup for the sponge cake after it has cooled — it takes 5 minutes once you have all the ingredients ready. You can substitute the honey with any other sweetener: sugar, syrup, topping, etc. Serve warm or chilled. Ideal with tea.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the indicated ingredients. The water must be boiled and cooled.
- 2
Step 2

Squeeze lemon juice into a deep container. You may use concentrated juice, mixing it in equal parts with water.
- 3
Step 3

Spread any blossom honey you like—but not buckwheat honey; it tastes slightly bitter. If you are allergic to it, replace it with sugar or another sweetener.

Step 4

Pour in cold water that you have boiled in advance and allowed to cool. You may use unsweetened tea instead of water, plus a little flavoring: vanilla, rum, or citrus. Stir the honey into the liquid thoroughly until it is completely dissolved.

Step 5

Pour the soak into a sauce boat or another container; use as intended.
