Strawberry Jam

Description

Perfect for winter pantry stocks. While fresh strawberries are still available, you need to seize the moment and cook jam for the winter. It could not be easier. I make a large batch and then give a jar to relatives and friends at Christmas. Believe me, everyone loves this gift! This simple strawberry jam recipe is one you should definitely remember and use. 1. Remove the strawberry hulls and rinse the berries thoroughly under running water. 2. Then rub the berries through a sieve. 3. Cook the mashed strawberries in their own juice until the pulp thickens. You can check the thickness with an ordinary spoon. Dip the spoon into the cooking jam and draw it through—the trail should hold. Do not add sugar at this stage! 4. Then add sugar to the boiling pulp and cook for another 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally. 5. Prepare jars for the jam and sterilize them. While the jam is still warm, pour it into the jars, cover with baking parchment or a plastic lid, and place in a cool, dark place. The jam is ready! You can replace the lids later. Store in a cool, dark place.
