Description

This recipe won't take much time. Here is a simple recipe for a Lenten apple pie that you may also find useful for making Lenten cookies or tartlets, since the dough for them is prepared in exactly the same way. During Lent, however, I always make this Lenten apple pie—it is delicious on its own and also lets you experiment with various flavor additions such as lemon or orange zest, ginger, and more. No matter how many times I have made this pie, it always turns out very tasty; both children and adults devour it with pleasure. So the recipe is personally tested, and you can be confident—if you follow the instructions, you will get a very tasty Lenten apple pie ;) Serve cooled or slightly warm.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

In a deep bowl, mix the flour, sugar, butter, water, and salt. Stir, then knead the dough by hand for 5–10 minutes. Shape the dough into a ball and refrigerate for 1 hour.

    Step 2

Cut the apples into wedges of any size.

    Step 4

Roll out the dough into a flat round and place it in a baking dish greased with oil. Put the filling in the center of the dough, pinch the edges together, and shape a nice pie.

    Step 5

    Step 5

Place in an oven preheated to 180°C and bake until a golden crust forms (I don’t give a specific time because it depends on your oven — go by how the pie looks; it’s easy to tell when it’s done from the golden color of the pastry).

    Step 6

    Step 6

Let the finished lenten apple pie cool slightly, dust with powdered sugar (optional), and serve. ;)
