
Lenten Semolina Cake

Prepare all the ingredients.

Pour semolina into a deep bowl. Add warm water and sugar.

Whisk together and leave for 10–15 minutes so the semolina can swell.

Then add the flour and vanilla sugar.

Pour in the vegetable oil and add the baking powder.

Keep mixing. The dough should have the consistency of thick sour cream.

Pour the batter into a prepared baking pan. I line the bottom of the pan with parchment paper and grease the sides with vegetable oil. A silicone pan does not need to be greased. Bake the semolina cake for 30–35 minutes in an oven preheated to 180°C until golden brown.

Check the semolina cake for doneness with a skewer or toothpick. Then let it rest briefly in the pan and cool slightly before removing it.

Before serving, you can sprinkle it with powdered sugar. The lenten semolina cake is ready.
