Vegan Poppy Seed Roll
Description
This recipe won't take much time. 1. First, put the poppy seeds into a small saucepan and pour boiling water over them. Let them sit for 15–20 minutes, then carefully drain the water (using several layers of cheesecloth works well) and let the seeds dry slightly. 2. To prepare the dough, slightly warm some water and pour it over the yeast. Add a pinch of sugar and let it sit for 5–10 minutes. 3. If the yeast is fresh, you can continue after about 10 minutes. Add a pinch of salt, oil, and sifted flour. Knead until you have a soft dough. 4. Cover the dough with a clean towel and let it rest for 30–35 minutes. 5. Meanwhile, mix the poppy seeds with sugar and thoroughly rub them together. You can also use honey instead. 6. Once the dough has risen, roll it out on a floured surface and spread the filling evenly over it. 7. Carefully roll it up into a log and let it rest for another 20–30 minutes. 8. Meanwhile, preheat the oven and prepare a baking pan. 9. Place the Lenten poppy roll onto parchment paper and put it in the oven. 10. After about 30 minutes, check for doneness. 11. Let the roll cool slightly. Before serving, you can dust it with powdered sugar, cinnamon, or decorate with berries, for example. Here's a simple and delicious way to make a Lenten poppy roll. Enjoy it yourself and treat your loved ones. Serve warm.
