Step 1

Start preparing the sourdough starter, as it is the main component. It takes almost 3 days to prepare. Take warm boiled water and pour it into a one-liter jar. Sift about 50 grams of wheat flour into this jar. Cover the jar's opening with gauze, secure it, and place the starter in a warm spot (temperature of at least 25°C) for 24 hours.

Step 2

After 48 hours, when the mixture in the jar has nearly doubled in volume and bubbles have formed on its surface, add another 100 ml of warm water and 50 grams of flour. The starter should be gently stirred, covered again with gauze, and placed in a warm spot for another 24 hours.

Step 3

After 24 hours, take a large bowl and add 2 tablespoons of starter, sprinkle in brown sugar and salt, pour in 100 ml of warm water, and sift in about 250 grams of flour. Knead the dough until smooth and uniform.

Step 4

Grease the bread machine pan with butter and place the dough inside. Cover it with a towel and let it rise for 2–3 hours. Then put the pan into the bread machine and set it to the medium temperature setting. Baking takes about 40 minutes in my machine.

Step 5

Do not remove the baked bread from the pan immediately. Let it cool slightly. Then carefully take it out of the pan and place it on a plate. Slice the bread and treat yourself to the first warm piece, spreading it with butter.
