Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients. Boil the carrots in advance until fully cooked.
- 2
Step 2

Combine flour, yeast, and butter.
- 3
Step 3

Add grated boiled carrot using a fine grater.
- 4
Step 4

Pour in the water and knead a soft dough that does not stick to your hands. You may need a little more or a little less flour, so at first I add about 400 grams, and then add the remaining flour as needed. Shape the dough into a ball, grease it with vegetable oil, cover the bowl with plastic wrap, and place it in a warm spot for 1–1.5 hours to rise. After that, it needs to be punched down and left to rise again for another 30–40 minutes.
- 5
Step 5

Form a log from the dough and cut it into 8–12 pieces (depending on the desired size of the buns). Coat each piece with flour on both sides.
- 6
Step 6

Shape the buns and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover the dough pieces with a towel and leave them to proof for another 20 minutes.
- 7
Step 7

Then mix the sugar with water and brush the buns on all sides with this solution. Bake in the oven at 220 degrees for about 25 minutes.
- 8
Step 8

Lenten carrot buns are ready. Let them cool first on a wire rack, and then serve them to the table.
- 9
Step 9

Take it out of the oven and serve warm or cooled.
