
Lenten flatbreads with yeast

The recipe is simple and affordable in its execution. It won't take much of your time, and the ingredients are available in any store.

Prepare the necessary ingredients.

Peel the onion and blend it into a uniform puree in a blender, or chop it very finely with a knife.

Add salt, sugar, and yeast to a glass of warm mineral water. Stir and set aside.

Sift the flour into a bowl, add 1.5 tbsp of sesame seeds and the minced onion. Stir with a spoon.

Pour in the yeast mixture.

While mixing the dough with a spoon, pour in 2 tbsp of vegetable oil. Knead the dough.

The resulting dough is soft and does not stick to the hands. Shape it into a ball, transfer it to a bowl, cover with a towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.

After the time has passed, the dough will rise slightly. Divide it into 4 parts.

Grease the baking sheet with 1 tbsp of vegetable oil. Shape each portion into a flatbread. Make the middle thinner than the edges. Poke the center of each flatbread as often as possible with a fork or tenderizer. Sprinkle the remaining sesame seeds into the resulting indentation. Cover with a towel and let rest for 20 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180 °C. After the time has passed, bake the flatbreads for 20–25 minutes.

Remove the baked flatbreads from the oven. Cover them with a towel and let them sit like that for 15 minutes.

Once the flatbreads are ready for serving. They can be served either slightly warm or completely cooled.
