Description

Homemade pastries for tea. I made lentil-filled Lenten chebureki, but you can use this recipe with any other Lenten filling you like (for example, mushrooms). Here's the recipe for Lenten chebureki: 1. First, prepare the dough. It's simple—knead an elastic dough using flour, water, oil, sugar, and salt. I used a bread machine, but you can do it by hand. 2. Once the dough is ready, prepare the filling. For my filling, I boiled lentils in salted water until completely soft (about 35 minutes), then mixed them with finely chopped onions sautéed in a pan. Season with salt and pepper, and mix until you get a uniform paste-like consistency. 3. Roll out the dough and cut out circles. Place the filling on one half of each circle, fold the other half over, seal the edges, and shape into chebureki. 4. Heat a generous amount of oil in a frying pan and fry the chebureki on both sides until golden brown. That's it—your Lenten chebureki are ready. I'll repeat: you can use any other Lenten filling—potatoes, for example, would work well too. Good luck with your cooking! Serve with tea or coffee.
