Description

Millet porridge is very healthy, and its beneficial properties are too numerous to list. It is especially good for the cardiovascular system and the digestive tract. By the way, it is suitable for athletes and anyone who enjoys muscle-building exercises. It is filling and promotes muscle mass growth. To prepare a fasting millet porridge with dried fruits, you can add raisins, prunes, dates—any dried fruits you like—along with the apricots. Almonds can always be substituted with cheaper walnuts or other nuts. 1. Pour water over the millet, let it sit for about 5 minutes, then drain the water. Repeat this process until the water runs clear. 2. Transfer the rinsed millet to a saucepan, pour in hot water, and bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat and simmer for 15–20 minutes, until almost all the water has evaporated. 3. While the porridge is cooking, prepare the nuts and dried fruits. Pour boiling water over the almonds and apricots separately and let them sit for 5 minutes. 4. Then drain the water from the nuts and apricots. Peel the almonds, chop them finely, and do the same with the apricots. I prefer larger pieces of apricot, so I cut them into bigger chunks. 5. Season the cooked porridge with vegetable oil and salt, add sugar to taste, then mix in the nuts and apricots. Stir well and let it steep for another 5 minutes. This fasting millet porridge with dried fruits turns out very tasty, not bland at all, sweet and satisfying. By the way, you can also add honey if desired.
