Tea-based fasting gingerbread
Description
1. Start by brewing a cup of good black tea and let it steep for a while. 2. Place sugar (you can use honey instead of sugar for a lean tea cake recipe), and a pinch of salt into a deep bowl. 3. Pour in the hot tea and mix thoroughly until the sugar is completely dissolved. 4. Add vegetable oil. 5. For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cinnamon, ginger, or vanilla, for example. 6. Sift flour with baking powder and gradually add it to the bowl in small portions. Mix the batter thoroughly to avoid lumps. 7. Add some raisins, candied fruits, or nuts into the prepared batter. Mix well once again. 8. Transfer the batter into an ovenproof dish and place it into a preheated oven at 190 degrees Celsius. 9. Bake the lean tea cake at home for 35–45 minutes, depending on the size of the dish. 10. Let it cool slightly before serving, then dust with powdered sugar. The baked cake is ready. Serve at once.
