You can also make popcorn that isn’t sweet—for example, classic with salt, with cheese, or even with pepper. You can also prepare individual portions for a children’s party, for example in colored sugar glaze. Can be served warm or chilled.

Roast the corn kernels covered with a lid in a small amount of oil. Stir occasionally until all the kernels have popped.

Prepare the caramel. In a saucepan, melt the butter and add the sugar. Stir until smooth. Increase the heat and bring to a boil. Add the salt and baking soda, stir, and continue boiling for a few more minutes.

Pour the popcorn into a saucepan, then slowly add the caramel sauce, stirring the popcorn continuously.

Preheat the oven to 120°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment, then spread the popcorn on top—break up any clumps and spread it evenly. Bake for 15 minutes. Then let cool.
