Step 2

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, and sour cream. Add the melted, cooled butter and whisk again. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and pour in the egg mixture. Stir with a rubber spatula until a sticky dough forms.

Step 3

3. Place the dough on a lightly floured work surface. Sprinkle flour over the dough and roll out to a thickness of 1 cm. Using 2 round cutters, cut out doughnuts.

Step 4

4. Place the doughnuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and put them in the refrigerator. Pour enough vegetable oil into a deep skillet to form a layer 2.5–3.5 cm deep. Heat the oil over high heat until it reaches 185–188 degrees. While the oil is heating, prepare the glaze.

Step 5

5. In a medium bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. To prepare the topping, mix sugar and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Once the oil reaches the desired temperature, carefully place the doughnuts into the hot oil. Fry 3 doughnuts at a time.

Step 6

6. Once the bottom side is browned, flip and continue frying on the other side. This takes about 2-3 minutes per side. Place the donuts on a baking sheet lined with paper towels and continue frying the remaining ones. Donuts with holes will cook faster than round donuts.
