Tomatoes in Jelly

Description

A simple way to make preserves ahead of time. Prepare an aromatic winter appetizer of tomatoes in jelly. This appetizer will grace any festive table. Peel and slice the vegetables. Pour liquid over the gelatin so it blooms. In a sterilized jar, layer the tomatoes, other vegetables, and pour in the marinade. Then sterilize the jars and seal them. Serve at the table or store in the pantry.

    Soak the gelatin in a small amount of cold boiled water and let stand for 30–40 minutes.

    Wash the tomatoes thoroughly, cut them in half, and remove the stem attachment area.

    Peel the onions and slice into rings.

    Peel the garlic cloves, remove the dry skin, and chop coarsely.

    Place onion rings, garlic, a bay leaf, and pepper at the bottom of sterilized jars.

    Pack the jars tightly with tomatoes, placing them cut-side down in a scale-like pattern. For this preserve, 1-liter jars are preferable.

    Bring the water to a boil, dissolve the sugar and salt in it, remove from the heat, add the vinegar and bloomed gelatin. Mix the marinade well.

    Pour the marinade over the tomatoes in the jars.

    Cover the jars with boiled lids and sterilize for 12–15 minutes, then seal tightly.

    Turn the sealed jars upside down and leave them in that position until completely cooled.
