Description

So, for the bread you will need warm water, at the optimal temperature for yeast—38–40 degrees—so they can start “working”; high-grade wheat flour (well sifted), salt, sugar, vegetable oil, and tomato paste. In spring and summer, tomato paste can be replaced with spinach purée—the loaf will turn out very pretty, white with green streaks. Blackberry juice also gives a lovely color. But today I will show you how to make this bright, beautiful orange bread. Watch, I’ll explain everything in detail. You can serve it with tea or coffee.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Prepare the ingredients. Heat the water to 40 degrees. Let's get started!

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Dissolve sugar, salt, and yeast in warm water.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Pour in the sifted flour, not all at once but in portions, as it is more convenient to knead the dough that way.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Add 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

When all the flour is moistened, move to the work surface and knead the dough until it forms a smooth, elastic ball. It usually takes me no more than 5–6 minutes. Return the dough to the bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and leave in a warm place for 1½ hours.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

When the dough has risen 2–3 times in volume, remove the plastic wrap and punch it down. Divide into two equal parts.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Into one portion, add tomato paste and try to work it into the dough; you will also need 1–2 spoons of flour, because the dough will become sticky from the paste.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

You get two lumps of dough in different colors.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Roll out the white dough into a rectangle, using your bread loaf pan as a guide for the size.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

Roll out a rectangle of the same size from the tomato dough. Place it on top of the white one.

  11. 11

    Step 11

    Step 11

Roll the dough into a roll. Roll it as tightly as you can so that no air pockets form.

  12. 12

    Step 12

    Step 12

Grease the bread pan with vegetable oil. Place the bread roll in it. Cover with plastic wrap and leave in a warm place for 35–40 minutes.

  13. 13

    Step 13

    Step 13

About 10–15 minutes before the end of bread proofing, preheat the oven to 180°C. Remove the film from the bread and bake it in the oven for 45–50 minutes.

  14. 14

    Step 14

    Step 14

This is how my loaf turned out—very tall. Remove it from the pan. Let it cool completely.

  15. 15

    Step 15

    Step 15

Fully cooled bread is ready to eat. Enjoy!

  16. 16

    Step 16

    Step 16

The baking is ready. Serve with tea.
