Easter Egg Dyeing with Hibiscus Tea
Description
Every homemaker dyes chicken eggs for Easter, but even this process can be done with natural products rather than chemical dyes. For this, use ordinary hibiscus tea — it creates a unique pattern on the shell. It can be served warm or chilled.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. It is better to buy eggs with white shells so they have a brighter pattern on them.
- 2
Step 2

Place the washed chicken eggs in a saucepan, cover them with warm water, and add the hibiscus flowers to the same pot. Put the pot on the stove and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to moderate.

Step 3

Boil the eggs hard for 12 minutes, then pour in the vinegar and boil for 1 more minute. Turn off the heat and let the eggs cool right in the tea, placing them somewhere cold. It’s best to turn them every 20 minutes so they color evenly, but even without that the pattern will still be vivid.

Step 4

Remove the eggs from the tea, rinse them in water, and brush with vegetable oil so they shine.

Step 5

Serve chilled eggs dyed with hibiscus tea.
