Shrimp pilaf
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Although it's not strictly speaking a traditional pilaf, it still has an amazing flavor! Whether it's a romantic dinner for two, a family lunch among close ones, or even a small festive gathering, shrimp pilaf will be a delightful addition to your table. The dish is light yet filling and nutritious, pairs wonderfully with various salads and light wines, and won't break the bank. You can modify the shrimp pilaf recipe by adding not only onions and carrots but also other vegetables—tomatoes, corn, green peas, zucchini, cauliflower, etc. This way, your pilaf will take on new flavor notes and undoubtedly impress your guests! :) The dish is ready to be served.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Peel and finely chop the onion.
- 2
Step 2

Fry in a pan with well-heated vegetable oil until lightly golden.
- 3
Step 3

Add carrots cut into thin strips or small cubes, or grated on a coarse grater (I'm not particularly fond of the second option, but to each their own).
- 4
Step 4

Sauté over medium heat until the carrots begin to brown. Add the washed and dried rice and cook, stirring, for about 5 minutes. Pour in water to cover the rice by one finger's depth, cover with a lid, and simmer over low heat until the liquid is completely absorbed.
- 5
Step 5

Peel the shrimp.
- 6
Step 6

And fry well in a small amount of vegetable oil. Add soy sauce, spices, and mix.
- 7
Step 7

Place the shrimp in sauce over the rice, season with salt, mix, and simmer for a few minutes covered. Serve hot!
