Pilaf with fruits

Description

Not only does this fruit pilaf recipe boast an unusual and delightful flavor, but it’s also very quick to prepare — a big advantage, since spending hours in the kitchen isn’t always appealing :) And if you have kids in the family, you’ll especially love this simple fruit pilaf recipe: it’s healthy, diet-friendly, and if you replace pepper and ginger with honey, it even becomes slightly sweet :) So definitely give it a try: 1. Rinse the fruits and rice you’ve chosen. Let the fruits dry slightly, while keeping the rice soaking in water for a while. 2. Wash and peel the carrots, then cut them into thin julienne strips or blend them in a food processor. 3. Sauté the carrots in butter or vegetable oil until golden, adding a pinch of salt. 4. Transfer the sautéed carrots, along with the remaining oil, into a heavy-bottomed pot or saucepan. 5. Place the rice and fruits on top of the carrots. Pour in juice and water (if you have enough juice, you can use two cups of juice and skip the water). 6. Cover the pot and cook over very low heat for 30 minutes. 7. After 30 minutes, add your chosen spices, cover again, and cook for another 5 minutes until fully done. Ready! Invite your little gourmets to the table :) I’m sure even the pickiest eaters will enjoy this simple fruit pilaf. The key is not to be afraid to experiment with juices (I especially like adding cherry juice) and fruits (I use apples and cherries). In winter, simply replace fresh fruits with dried fruits.
