Pilaf in a pan

120 min4 serv.19 февр. 2026 г.

Description

Probably many of you cook pilaf in roaster pans, cauldrons, or at least in pots with thick walls, but believe me, you can make delicious pilaf even in an ordinary frying pan. And if you don't believe it, let me offer you a simple recipe for pilaf cooked in a skillet. The only requirement here is high sides and, if possible, thick walls—otherwise, it can be a regular frying pan. In my opinion, this is very convenient and saves us a lot of time, since we'll be cooking everything in one single dish. And it doesn't affect the taste at all—this pilaf turns out just as tasty and aromatic as when cooked in a cauldron, I've tested it many times. Even my picky husband didn't notice any difference, so now I cook this dish very often and want to share my experience with you and tell you how to make an excellent pilaf in a frying pan.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

First, let's prepare the vegetables. Cut the carrots into strips and the onion into rings.

Sauté the onion over high heat until it turns brown.

Sear the meat over high heat until it develops a brown crust on all sides.

  7. 7

    Step 7

Now add the carrots and fry everything together for about 5-7 minutes, until the carrots become soft.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Pour 500 milliliters of water into a frying pan and place two heads of garlic in the center. When the liquid comes to a boil, remove the garlic and set it aside. Now, salt the water.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Place the rice in the pan and carefully spread it evenly over the entire surface; the liquid should completely cover the rice. Cook the rice over medium heat for 10–15 minutes. If, after this time, there is still too much liquid remaining, make several holes through the rice to allow steam to escape.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

Now place the garlic heads in the center of the rice and sprinkle with crushed cumin. Cover the pan with a lid and reduce the heat.

    Step 11

Let the pilaf cook for 20-25 minutes until fully done. Serve the ready pilaf onto plates and garnish with garlic.
