Brown rice pilaf with pork
Description
Pilaf is delicious, nutritious, and very satisfying. Pilaf made from brown rice is even healthier, as brown rice contains more beneficial nutrients than its polished counterpart—white rice. There are countless pilaf recipes, and every cook believes their version is the best. I won't argue with that, since everyone has different tastes. Let me offer you one variation of pilaf preparation. Here is a recipe for pilaf with pork made from brown rice. It's simple, and all ingredients are affordable and easy to find. Let me tell you how.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Rinse the rice thoroughly and soak it in cold water for about 30-35 minutes.
- 2
Step 2

Peel the onion and carrot. Cut the carrot into strips and the onion into rings.
- 3
Step 3

Pilaf can be cooked not only in a cauldron but also in a deep, heavy-bottomed frying pan. Heat the frying pan well with vegetable oil, then add the onion to the oil.
- 4
Step 4

Fry the onion until it turns a rich golden brown.
- 5
Step 5

Cut the pork meat into medium-sized cubes.
- 6
Step 6

Place the meat into the fried onions. When it browns on one side, stir.
- 7
Step 7

Add the prepared carrots to the meat, mix and fry for 7-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. The carrots should become soft.
- 8
Step 8

Pour about 0.5 liters of water into the pan with the meat, carrots, and onions, and place whole garlic heads in the center. Once the contents of the pan come to a boil, remove the garlic and set it aside—we'll need it later.
- 9
Step 9

Drain the water from the previously soaked rice, pour the rice into a frying pan, and add salt.
- 10
Step 10

Spread the rice evenly; the liquid should slightly cover it. Cook over medium-high heat for about 15 minutes, during which the liquid level should drop slightly below the rice.
- 11
Step 11

Rub the cumin in your palms, sprinkle it over the rice, and place the garlic heads, which we have already used before, in the center. Tightly cover the pan with a lid and reduce the heat to the minimum. Cook for another approximately 30 minutes.
