Moscow-style sweet roll
Description
The pastry is simple and quick to make. When I bake these buns at home, it's like a holiday for the kids. And no wonder – they turn out incredibly delicious. We're used to buying pastries from stores, but making Moscow-style buns at home is actually very easy. When shaping the buns, you can add raisins, poppy seeds, or grated chocolate. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1
Add a couple of tablespoons of flour, sugar, and yeast to warm milk. Let it sit for 15 minutes or until a foamy layer forms.
- 2
Step 2
Separate two tablespoons of butter and add the rest to the dough.
- 3
Step 3
Add the remaining sugar, salt, and vanilla sugar to the dough.
- 4
Step 4
Gradually add the flour and knead a soft, elastic dough. Cover it with a clean towel and leave it in a warm place to rise.
- 5
Step 5
When the dough has doubled in volume, punch it down and divide it into 10-12 equal parts.
- 6
Step 6
Roll out each of these parts, brush with butter, and generously sprinkle with sugar.
- 7
Step 7
Fold the dough inward like a envelope, then fold it in half. Make a cut along the fold and turn the sugared side outward. Shape it into a heart and place it on the baking sheet.
- 8
Step 8
While the buns are resting and rising, preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
- 9
Step 9
Bake them for 20 minutes. Let the buns cool under a towel.
