Moldovan placinta

Description

Delicious baked treat for the whole family. In Moldova, placinte are made everywhere. They come with various fillings: potato, feta cheese, cabbage, herbs. The most traditional recipe is the one with potatoes. In appearance, they resemble the flatbreads we are familiar with, but thanks to their filling, they can be compared to a thin pie. Placinte can be enjoyed on their own or served alongside any dish instead of bread. Serve them warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.

    1. Peel and wash the potatoes, then cut them into pieces and boil. Mash the potatoes into a puree, add salt, pepper, and butter.

    2. Sift half of the flour into a bowl, make a depression in the center, and crack two chicken eggs into it.

    3. Pour kefir (2.5% fat content) into a bowl, season with salt and pepper to taste.

    4. Mix the dough and pour in 2 tablespoons of sunflower oil.

    5. Add the remaining flour and knead the dough until it no longer sticks to hands, then let it rest for half an hour.

    6. After 30 minutes, divide the dough into several parts, shape into a few balls, and let them rest again for 20 minutes.

    7. Sprinkle a little flour on the table and place one portion on it, roll it out thinly into a circle and make cuts around the entire perimeter.

    8. Place a few spoonfuls of previously prepared mashed potato in the center of the flatbread and spread it out, then pull each edge and fold it toward the center.

    10. Heat a pan with vegetable oil, then place the placinta in it and fry on both sides until golden brown.
