Macadamia Nut and Syrup Pastries
Description
This recipe won't take much time. Line a square baking pan with parchment paper, grease with butter, and set aside. In a bowl, mix flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 cup nuts. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees. Beat 1/2 cup butter and 1/4 cup brown sugar in a bowl with an electric mixer at medium speed. Add the flour mixture and 1 teaspoon maple syrup. Pour the dough into the prepared pan. Chill for 30 minutes. Bake until lightly golden, 22 to 25 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool slightly. Add the remaining 6 tablespoons butter and 1/2 cup nuts to a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until fragrant and the butter becomes foamy, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the remaining 1/4 teaspoon salt, 3 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 teaspoon maple syrup, ginger, maple sugar, corn syrup, and cream. Cook, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes. Pour the mixture over the baked crust. Let cool completely. Cut into 16 squares. The bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. The dessert is ready. Serve.
