Fish pastries from puff pastry

45 min4 serv.21 февр. 2026 г.

Description

The pastry is simple and quick to prepare. For making fish turnovers with puff pastry, I recommend using non-yeast pastry that isn't overly flaky—on the package it usually says "with slight rise." For the filling, I used ready-to-eat smoked trout that doesn't require additional cooking. You can also use canned fish (but not oily and without liquid) or boiled fish. Serve with tea or coffee.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

To make fish turnovers with puff pastry, I use ready-made pastry that I easily buy at any store. It needs to be thawed in advance. Rinse and prepare the fish.

    Step 2

Peel the onion and finely chop it. You can also grate it on a grater.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Fry the onion in vegetable oil in a frying pan until golden brown.

    Step 4

Mash the fish with a fork, then add the onion to it.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Roll out two layers of dough and check with a cutter to see how many pastries you can make. I used star-shaped cutters.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Place the filling in the center of the marked stars.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Brush another layer of dough with water, then carefully cover the filling with it. Next, cut out our future pastries into star shapes.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Remove the excess dough (by the way, you can use it to make pastries or straws). Firmly seal the edges of the stars so they don't come apart later.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Preheat the oven to 180-200 degrees. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for about 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.

    Step 10

Ready-made fish turnovers made with puff pastry go very well with sour cream.
