Onion pastries
Description
The pastry is simple and quick to make. Recently I discovered a wonderful ingredient — leek. It's much tastier than regular green onions, with a more piquant flavor. Why not make buns with it? For additional filling, I recommend using rice instead of the usual eggs. Leek pairs perfectly with rice. To make leek buns, first prepare the yeast dough: 1. Whisk the egg with flour (a few tablespoons) using a whisk. Continue whisking while gradually adding warm milk, then mix in the yeast, sugar, and salt. Let the starter rise in a warm place for 30 minutes. 2. Melt the butter and mix it with 3 cups of flour. Add the risen starter and knead the dough. Shape it into a ball, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1–1.5 hours. 3. Thoroughly wash the leek, slice it, and sauté with butter. Mix the pre-cooked rice with the leek, then season with salt and pepper. 4. Shape the buns, optionally brush them with egg. Bake at 180°C until golden brown. Ready! As you can see, this leek bun recipe is very easy. Let the buns cool slightly before serving. They can be served with tea or coffee.
