Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the dough ingredients according to the list. Melt the butter and let it cool slightly.
- 2
Step 2

In a deep bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir and let stand for 10–15 minutes.
- 3
Step 3

Then add kefir, salt, vegetable oil, and melted butter.
- 4
Step 4

Mix and add the flour in portions.
- 5
Step 5

Knead yeast dough. If kneading by hand, knead for about 5–7 minutes; with a stand mixer and dough hook, about 3 minutes. Oil your hands with vegetable oil, shape the dough into a ball, cover the bowl with a towel, and leave in a warm place to rise for about an hour.
- 6
Step 6

Meanwhile, prepare the filling. I’m using sausages—cut each one in half. Ready-made mashed potatoes and stewed cabbage. You can prepare whatever filling you prefer.
- 7
Step 7

After enough time has passed, the dough should swell to roughly twice its size.
- 8
Step 8

Punch down the dough with your hands.
- 9
Step 9

Divide the dough into 15 pieces. Roll each piece of dough into a ball.
- 10
Step 10

From each dough ball, shape a flat round; the dough is pliable and nice to handle. Spoon the filling into the centre and pinch the edges of the dough closed so the filling is sealed inside.
- 11
Step 11

You end up with little pies like these.
- 12
Step 12

Place the prepared pieces seam side down in an oiled tin. In a round tin you can arrange the pasties in a flower pattern. Brush the tops with egg yolk and bake in an oven preheated to 180°C for about 35–40 minutes.
- 13
Step 13

Remove the baked pie from the tin and let it cool.
- 14
Step 14

The “Family” pie is ready.
