Apple pie with cottage cheese dough
Description
It pairs perfectly with tea and coffee. The cottage cheese dough is fragrant and easy to make. I don't add any flavoring to this dough; the smell of dairy products is pleasant on its own, but if desired, you can add a couple of drops of vanilla or almond extract. The pastry is ready. Serve at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Beat softened butter with sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, beating each thoroughly.
- 2
Step 2

Add the cottage cheese and sour cream, mix well with a mixer. Sprinkle in the sifted mixture of wheat and corn flour with salt and leavening agent. Knead the dough on low speed of the mixer.
- 3
Step 3

Place the dough in a butter‑greased pan. The dough is thick and sticky, but spreads well with a silicone spatula. Spread it in the pan in a thick layer, slightly raising the edges.

Step 4

Peel the apples and cut them into large wedges. Arrange them on top of the dough like tiles, gently pressing them into the dough.

Step 5

Sprinkle the apples with cinnamon, drizzle with caramel, and top with almond flakes. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for 40–45 minutes. The pie will turn golden brown, the edges will start to pull away from the pan, and a toothpick will come out dry.

Step 6

Remove the pie onto a rack and let it cool. Slice the cooled pie into pieces, dust with powdered sugar, and serve with tea.
