Cod pie with puff pastry
Description
Pies made from puff pastry are very easy to prepare, and they are also extremely delicious. You can choose the filling to your taste or use whatever you have in the refrigerator. I particularly like fish pies—they are juicy and tender inside, with a delicious crispy crust on the outside. Right now, I'm talking about my favorite cod pie. My sister shared the recipe for this puff pastry cod pie with me; she often makes it for her children and husband. I added my own "two cents" to the recipe, resulting in a slightly different pie, but just as tasty and wonderful. I hope I explained everything clearly. It can be served with tea or coffee.
Instructions

Step 1

For the pie, we'll need mushrooms sautéed with onions. I didn't include a photo, as I hope you already know how to do this. Roll out the thawed puff pastry into a rectangular sheet twice the size of the fillet, and place 2 tablespoons of breadcrumbs in the center.

Step 2

On top, place one half of the fillet and season it with salt and pepper. On the fillet, place the sautéed mushrooms with onions, slightly cooled.

Step 3

Place the second part of the cod fillet on top of the mushrooms. Again, season with salt and pepper to taste, and add the remaining breadcrumbs.

Step 4

Cover the future pie with the second piece of dough, carefully sealing the edges. You can shape the pie like a fish, using leftover dough to make eyes and a tail. With scissors, create scales by making small diagonal cuts on the dough.

Step 5

Brush the pie well with beaten egg yolk, then place it in a preheated oven at 200°C for 30–35 minutes, baking until a nice golden crust forms. The finished cod pie can be served either hot or cold.
