Herring pie
Description
The recipe won't take much time. I'm truly glad that I found this classic herring pie recipe, which, by the way, came to us from foggy Britain—where pies with herring and onions have long been a favorite and are often prepared. I suggest you get better acquainted with this affordable exotic dish, especially since you already know how to make a herring pie! Good luck. The pastry is ready. Serve it at the table.
Instructions

Step 1

1. Take the dough out to thaw, or prepare it yourself. Meanwhile, wash the herring, clean it, and remove the large bones. Slice the fillet with a knife into strips, as shown in the photo.
- 2
Step 2

2. Dust the board with flour so the dough doesn't stick, and knead it well by hand.
- 3
Step 3

3. Roll out a piece of dough into a not-too-thin round, place a layer of finely chopped onion on it (about half), then put the fish on top.
- 4
Step 4

4. Sprinkle the herring with your favorite herbs, and season with salt and pepper if desired. Drizzle with oil, then top with the remaining chopped onion.
- 5
Step 5

5. Carefully seal the edges of the pie to prevent the fish juice from leaking during cooking.

Step 6

6. Flip the cake onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. You can brush the top of the cake with beaten egg.

Step 7

7. Bake in a preheated oven for half an hour, then cut into portions and serve!
