Serve it cooled down or slightly warm.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients for the halibut pie. Clean the halibut from scales, wash it and dry with a paper towel. Peel and wash the potatoes.
- 2
Step 2

Remove the skin from the halibut fillet and cut it into medium cubes. Peel and rinse the onion, then finely chop it. Place everything in a bowl, add salt, pepper, and mix. If desired, you can add a little lemon juice.
- 3
Step 3

Melt the butter for the dough and let it cool.
- 4
Step 4

In a bowl, crack the eggs, add salt, and beat until fluffy, soft foam forms. The mixture should become light in color and increase in volume.
- 5
Step 5

Pour the warm kefir into the egg mixture and gently stir, being careful not to lose the fluffiness.
- 6
Step 6

Combine the flour with the baking powder, mix well with a whisk and sift into a bowl. Stir until a smooth batter forms. The batter should have the consistency of medium-thick sour cream.
- 7
Step 7

Grease the baking dish with vegetable oil and sprinkle with breadcrumbs or semolina. This will allow you to easily remove the finished cake from the dish after baking.
- 8
Step 8

Place half of the dough into the mold and smooth it out.
- 9
Step 9

Grate the potatoes on a coarse grater and squeeze out the moisture. Spread the potatoes over the surface of the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Lightly season with salt.
- 10
Step 10

Place the halibut and onion filling on the potatoes.
- 11
Step 11

Spread the remaining dough on top, covering the filling.
- 12
Step 12

Place the halibut pie in a preheated oven and bake at 180°C for 40–45 minutes, until cooked through. Remove the halibut pie from the oven and brush the top with butter. Cover the pie and let it rest for 5–10 minutes.
- 13
Step 13

The halibut pie is ready. Cut it into portions and serve.
- 14
Step 14

Remove from the oven and serve warm or cooled.
