Meat and Potato Pie
Description
Delicious baked treat for the whole family. This pie is great in the morning for breakfast, as a midday snack at work, school or university, and as a hearty quick afternoon tea. The dough is simple, and the filling is budget-friendly (potatoes, as you understand, are cheaper than meat, and here they make up half of the total filling weight). And it turns out delicious! Especially with fresh cucumbers and tomatoes. I recommend serving the hot meat and potato pie with sour cream, while the cold one goes well with sweet tea or fruit compote. Overall, you'll definitely find this meat and potato pie recipe useful, I'm sure.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Grate frozen butter on a coarse grater directly into the sifted flour, constantly mixing with your fingers. Break an egg into a standard glass, pour in vinegar, and top up with cold water to the brim. Pour this mixture into the butter-flour mixture.
- 2
Step 2

Quickly knead the dough, shape it into a ball, place it in a plastic bag, and refrigerate for 1 hour.
- 3
Step 3

We will peel and chop the onion.
- 4
Step 4

We wash the potatoes, peel them, and cut them into fairly thin strips.
- 5
Step 5

We'll take out the dough and divide it into two unequal parts. Roll out the larger part into a sheet the size of the baking tray.
- 6
Step 6

Add salt, pepper, and a little cold water to the minced meat and mix thoroughly.
- 7
Step 7

On a layer of dough, place the filling in layers—potatoes (salted), onions, and minced meat. Then roll out another layer of dough and cover the pie with it.
- 8
Step 8

Pinch the edges, prick with a fork in several places, and bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 40-50 minutes. Let the baked pie cool slightly, cut into portions, and serve.
