
Poppy Seed Pie
Description
The baking is simple and quick. A poppy seed pie is an excellent sweet treat for tea. The yeast dough in the recipe is very easy to knead and rises quickly. The pie can be served with tea or cold milk.

1. Dissolve the yeast in warm milk with sugar and let it stand for 10 minutes. Add softened margarine and eggs. Gradually add flour, kneading a non‑sticky dough. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 30 minutes. Grind the poppy seeds in a blender or coffee grinder. Place the poppy seeds in a saucepan, add honey and 4–5 tablespoons of boiled water. Simmer for 4–5 minutes until the honey dissolves. If the honey is not very sweet, add a little sugar.

2. Roll the dough into a rectangle and spread the poppy seed filling evenly over it.

3. Roll the dough into a log and cut into pieces 4–5 cm thick.

4. Place the rolls in a round pan, cut side up. Let stand for 15‑20 minutes. Brush the pie with beaten egg and bake in the oven for 30‑40 minutes at 175 degrees.
