Apple Caramel Pie
Description
Delicious apple pie with caramelized apples. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Peel the apples and cut them in half crosswise.
- 2
Step 2

Remove the core; it's okay if the apples break apart
- 3
Step 3

Cut each apple half in half.
- 4
Step 4

Melt the butter in a large saucepan or skillet. Then add the powdered sugar and place the apples on top. Let caramelize over low heat.
- 5
Step 5

Meanwhile, roll out the first layer of dough, prick it with a fork, and put it back in the refrigerator
- 6
Step 6

Roll out the second layer of dough (this will be the "lid") and make a small hole in the center to allow steam to escape during cooking. Return to the refrigerator.
- 7
Step 7

The apples will be caramelized in about 30 minutes.
- 8
Step 8

Take out the first layer of dough, place it on the work surface, and arrange the apples with the caramelized side up, closer to the center.
- 9
Step 9

Moisten the edges of the dough with cold water.
- 10
Step 10

Cover the pie with the second layer of dough.
- 11
Step 11

Seal the edges of the pie.
- 12
Step 12

If necessary, trim the edges into a round shape and cut off the excess.
- 13
Step 13

Brush with beaten egg yolk
- 14
Step 14

Place in the refrigerator while the oven is preheating to 210°C. Bake in the oven for approximately 25 minutes.
- 15
Step 15

Watch the color: as soon as it looks like the photo, it's ready to be taken out.
- 16
Step 16

Serve warm, if possible.
