
Viburnum pie made with shortcrust pastry

Yet our grandmothers, and our mothers too, have long used viburnum in baking, alongside traditional berries. The preparation method will delight you with its simplicity, and getting viburnum nowadays is actually very easy. A little time, and both guests and family will appreciate this delicious tea pie. Prepare the ingredients for making a viburnum pie.

Place the softened butter in a bowl.

Add sugar to the bowl and stir.

Crack in the egg and mix again.

Pour the baking powder into a bowl. Gradually add the flour.

Knead an elastic dough that does not stick to your hands.

Divide the dough into two unequal parts. Place the larger part (two-thirds) of the dough in the refrigerator, and the smaller part (one-third) in the freezer.

Prepare the filling. Wash the viburnum. Remove the berries from the stems, transfer them to a blender bowl, and blend until it reaches a liquid puree consistency. Rub the blended viburnum through a sieve.

Transfer the pureed viburnum to a saucepan and add sugar to taste. Place over heat and simmer until the sugar dissolves.

Without removing from the heat, stirring, bring it to complete dissolution of the starch. Let it cool.
