Bean Pie
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. This is a very unusual, yet simple recipe for a bean pie that I'm sure will find its fans. I was primarily intrigued by the unusual combination of flavors, as well as the fact that no dough is used here, meaning the most difficult step in pie-making is eliminated. I'll share my experience with you and tell you how to make it. The finished dish can be served at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Rinse the beans under water, then soak them in cold water for 2-3 hours.
- 2
Step 2

When the beans have soaked, we need to transfer them to a pot, cover with water again, and simmer over low heat for 30–40 minutes.
- 3
Step 3

Now we proceed to prepare the cornmeal, which will serve as our substitute for dough. Pour cold water over it and cook for approximately 15–20 minutes. For 4 cups of cornmeal, you will need 1.5–2 cups of water.

Step 4

Peel the onion and slice it into half-rings. Then lightly fry it in a pan until golden brown.
- 5
Step 5

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater.
- 6
Step 6

On the bottom of a form greased with vegetable oil, place 2/3 of the prepared corn porridge.
- 7
Step 7

Then layer the dish: first the beans, followed by the onion, half of the cheese, the remaining porridge, and then the rest of the cheese. Try to spread the final layer of corn porridge evenly so that it completely covers all the previous layers.

Step 8

Place the pan in a preheated oven at 160 degrees and leave for half an hour. Now the pie is ready to be tasted, but I should warn you in advance that, despite the small number of ingredients, the pie turns out to be quite filling.
