
Meringue Pie
Description
Perfectly pairs with tea and coffee. The cake prepared according to this recipe turns out very tender. If you don't have limes on hand, you can replace them with regular lemons or oranges. Turn any shortbread cookie into fine crumbs using your hands or a blender. Then mix it with melted butter. Place the mixture into a baking pan, forming the base for the future pie.

Separate the yolks from the whites. Place the yolks in a glass bowl, pour in the can of condensed milk, and use a mixer to blend the ingredients into a smooth mixture.

Wash the limes and grate the zest from them. Add the zest to the bowl with the egg mixture. Squeeze the juice from the citrus fruits and pour it into the bowl as well. Mix thoroughly until smooth.

Pour the resulting mixture into a baking dish and place it in a preheated oven at 180 degrees. Bake the cake for 25 minutes.

Chill the raw egg whites. Then add a pinch of salt and baking powder. Beat the egg whites with a mixer at maximum speed, gradually adding sugar, until stiff peaks form.

Transfer the whipped egg whites to a piping bag. Once the pie has cooled, fill its surface with the whipped egg whites. Then place the pie back in the oven, preheated to 230 degrees, and bake for two to three minutes.
