Pie
Description
Perfect with tea and coffee. The pie can be made with any jam, preserves, or even berry or fruit puree that you have on hand. I immediately put the ready dough in the freezer rather than the refrigerator; this helps save time in the kitchen. If you haven’t tried “Karakuм” yet, I definitely recommend it. It can be served with tea or coffee.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Carefully separate the yolks and combine them with half of the sugar. Mix until smooth.
- 3
Step 3

Add softened butter.
- 4
Step 4

Add sifted baking soda and flour. Knead a soft, uniform dough.
- 5
Step 5

Divide the dough into two unequal parts, wrap them in plastic film, and place them in the freezer for 15 minutes.
- 6
Step 6

Meanwhile, you can work on the egg whites. Combine them with the remaining sugar and beat until fluffy.
- 7
Step 7

Add chopped nuts (I use almond flakes, but any nuts will work).
- 8
Step 8

Roll out the larger ball of dough and place it in a heat‑proof dish (set aside the scraps; we’ll need them).
- 9
Step 9

Spread a uniform layer of jam, curd, and jelly.
- 10
Step 10

Grate the portion of dough that remained after forming the pie base.
- 11
Step 11

Place the egg whites with the nuts.
- 12
Step 12

Grate the second dough ball over the top. Place the pie in an oven preheated to 180 °C.
- 13
Step 13

Bake for about 45 minutes until golden brown.
- 14
Step 14

Let it cool slightly, and then you can serve the “Karakuм” pie at the table.
