Black Currant Jam Pie
Description
The pastry is simple and quick to prepare. This pie can bring a large group together over a cup of tea. The filling is customizable—add apples with sugar or plums. It's better to choose a slightly tart filling. We'll be making a yeast dough, so make sure you have enough time. Later, we'll braid it into braids, so get ready. Serve cooled or slightly warm.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Separate one yolk for brushing. Beat the remaining eggs and the white with 100 grams of sugar. In another container, pour 50 ml of warm milk over the yeast and add sugar. Let it stand for 10 minutes to swell.
- 2
Step 2

Melt the butter. Cool it to room temperature. Combine both types of butter.
- 3
Step 3

Sift the flour twice. Pour the egg and butter mixture into it along with the salt. Also add the yeast and the remaining warm milk.
- 4
Step 4

Knead the dough. Let it rest, covered with a towel, in a warm place for one and a half to two hours.
- 5
Step 5

Roll out the prepared dough into a rectangle 4 cm thick.
- 6
Step 6

Cut half of the dough into 1 cm strips. The number of strips should be a multiple of three (see photo).
- 7
Step 7

Braid the "braids," and spread the remaining dough with jam.
- 8
Step 8

Roll up the product into a roll, starting from the filling side. Shape the pie into a circle and secure it. Let it rest for 20 minutes.
- 9
Step 9

Brush the dough with beaten egg yolk. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
- 10
Step 10

Bake the pie for 40 minutes.
