Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Combine in a deep bowl the flour, soft margarine cut into cubes, sour cream, salt, sugar, and baking soda.
- 3
Step 3

Mix everything with a spoon, then knead a soft dough by hand. If necessary, add a little more flour during the process. Gather the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- 4
Step 4

In the meantime, prepare the filling. Dice the onion and sauté it until soft, add thinly sliced cabbage, salt to taste, and simmer the vegetables until done. At the end, if desired, you can add a piece of butter and ground black pepper.
- 5
Step 5

Divide the dough into two parts. One should be slightly larger, the other a bit smaller. Roll out the larger portion on a flour‑dusted surface into a rectangle, about 3 mm thick. Carefully transfer the rolled sheet of dough into a buttered baking pan. Use your hands to make small edges.
- 6
Step 6

Evenly spread the filling on top, leaving a slight margin from the edges.
- 7
Step 7

Roll out the second portion of the dough into a rectangle and use it to cover the filling.
- 8
Step 8

Join the edges of the dough by any convenient method. Brush the top with egg yolk and prick with a fork. Sprinkle the pie with sesame seeds if desired. Bake at 180 °C for about 30 minutes.
- 9
Step 9

The fresh cabbage pie baked in the oven is ready. Let it cool a bit, then slice and serve.
- 10
Step 10

Remove from the oven and serve warm or cooled.
