Pico de Gallo
Description
Perfect for both special occasions and everyday meals. Pico de gallo is one of those dishes Mexicans are always arguing about. Not only is it prepared differently from region to region—in some places, a completely different dish is served under this name! That said, the default version of pico de gallo is a spicy cold appetizer-salad made with tomatoes and other vegetables. I really like it—it takes just 15 minutes to make, and as a snack, it's really quite good. And if you like things spicy, you'll be absolutely delighted :) It can be served warm or chilled.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1
Cut the tomatoes in half and remove the seeds (however, I don't recommend throwing them away—they can be used in other dishes).
- 2
Step 2
Finely dice the tomatoes.
- 3
Step 3
Place chili pepper (without seeds and stem), olive oil, onion, garlic, cilantro, salt, and pepper in the blender bowl. Blend until a more or less uniform consistency forms (we don't need a perfectly smooth paste, but large pieces of ingredients should not remain).
- 4
Step 4
Mix the sliced tomatoes with the resulting green sauce.
- 5
Step 5
Mix well.

Step 6
So, pico de gallo is ready. You can eat it as is, or wrap it in a Mexican tortilla — that’s also very tasty. ;)
