Description

It goes perfectly with tea and coffee. Capricciosa pizza is a classic Italian pizza whose name translates as “caprice.” This pizza is especially popular thanks to its topping: there’s ham sausage, mushrooms, olives, and tomatoes; sometimes marinated or boiled artichokes are added as well. You can also grate Parmesan or other cheeses on top. Any whim, as they say! Be sure to try making this pizza at home. The bake is ready. Serve at the table.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

    Prepare all the necessary ingredients.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

In warm water, dissolve the dry yeast, add salt and sugar, and stir. Usually instant yeast is mixed with the other dry ingredients first, then the liquids are added, but I prefer mixing the yeast straight into the water.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

You can let the yeast rest a bit, or you can start adding the other ingredients right away.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Add a few tablespoons of vegetable oil (olive oil is preferable), sift the flour, and knead the dough.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Knead a soft, elastic dough and leave it for about 15 minutes so the dough can rise.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. Clean the mushrooms and slice them thinly.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Slice the sausage into thin rounds.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Slice the tomatoes into rounds. If a tomato is large, cut the rounds in half.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Grate the mozzarella on a coarse grater.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

The dough has risen. The stated amount of dough is enough for two 30 cm pizzas. Preheat your oven to 200–250 °C (as high as your oven allows). Grease the baking tray with vegetable oil. Divide the dough in half; roll one portion out thinly, lay it on the tray, and shape the edges.

  11. 11

    Step 11

    Step 11

Spread with pizza sauce or ketchup.

  12. 12

    Step 12

    Step 12

    Arrange the sausage and mushrooms.

  13. 13

    Step 13

    Step 13

Also tomatoes and olives. Marinated artichokes are sometimes added to “Capricciosa” pizza as well.

  14. 14

    Step 14

    Step 14

Sprinkle everything with grated mozzarella and bake in a preheated oven for 15–20 minutes, depending on the temperature and oven type.

  15. 15

    Step 15

    Step 15

It is very important not to overcook the pizza: the crust is thin, so it is ready very quickly—and so are the toppings. The pizza turned out very tasty, tender, and thin, with stretchy melted cheese.

  16. 16

    Step 16

    Step 16

Garnish the finished pizza with basil leaves and serve.
