
Shortcrust Pie with Pears and Plums
Description
The recipe won’t take much time. If desired, you can skip caramelizing the filling for this delicious pie, but then you’ll need to mix it with sugar and starch so the dough doesn’t absorb the juice while baking, otherwise it won’t bake through! If desired, when serving, the treat can be sprinkled with ground cinnamon or powdered sugar. It can be served with tea or coffee.

Prepare the listed ingredients.

Melt the lard in the microwave or in a water bath and let it cool slightly. Add the egg yolk, then add the sugar and salt, and mix thoroughly.

Add the premium-grade wheat flour and knead a shortcrust pastry dough.

Chill the ball of dough in the refrigerator for about 15–20 minutes, covered with plastic wrap.

Meanwhile, remove the seeds and core sections from the fruit, rinse, and cut into slices. Place in a frying pan together with granulated sugar. Simmer for about 3–5 minutes until caramelized.

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Place the shortcrust pastry into the pan, bringing it up the sides.

Place the caramelized sliced fruit in the center of the dough in the pan and gently spread it out. Put the pan in the oven for 25–30 minutes.

When the dough is baked through and the pie is golden brown, turn off the heat and remove the dessert from the oven, then let it cool.
