Instructions

Step 1

1. Take the margarine out of the refrigerator in advance so that it softens. Mix it with 150 grams of sugar until smooth.
- 2
Step 2

2. Slightly salt the margarine-sugar mixture, add eggs, and thoroughly mix with a spoon or beat with a mixer.

Step 3

3. Now knead the dough by adding all the flour at once, previously mixed with baking soda. Calculate the amount of flour based on the dough consistency. It should be soft but not sticky.

Step 4

4. Taste the orange peel; if it's bitter, remove it. If not, grate the oranges with the peel on a coarse grater. Alternatively, you can cut them into pieces and chop in a blender, but not too finely. Add a cup of sugar and mix well.

Step 5

5. Line the baking dish with 2/3 of the dough, forming edges. You can either roll it out with a rolling pin and transfer it to the dish, or simply press the dough evenly into the dish by hand.
- 6
Step 6

6. Evenly sprinkle the dough base with starch, then place the filling on top. The amount of starch can be adjusted depending on the juiciness of the oranges.
- 7
Step 7

7. Roll out the remaining 1/3 of the dough into a sheet, cover the pie with it, sealing the edges well. Prick the surface with a fork.
- 8
Step 8

8. Bake in a preheated oven at 180–200 °C for about 40 minutes. The orange shortcrust pie is ready!
