Shortbread rings with nuts

Description

Homemade treats for tea. If you have guests at the door or want to treat your loved ones to delicious "childhood-style" cookies, I recommend making these nutty shortbread rings. This is a traditional shortbread recipe, perfectly complemented by roasted, chopped peanuts. To help the nuts stick better to the surface, brush the cookies with beaten egg white before sprinkling them with nuts. Serve cooled or slightly warm.

Instructions

    Step 1

    Step 1

    1. I've always wanted to make nutty shortbread rings according to GOST standards—so to speak, to restore the taste of childhood. We used to buy this cookie at school. Today I'll tell you how to make it at home. Prepare the ingredients.

  2. 2

    2. Prepare classic shortcrust pastry: add baking powder, egg, sugar, and flour to softened butter. I usually knead this dough in a food processor. If you're doing it by hand, you can even grate the butter or mash it with a fork.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    3. The dough should be elastic, like plasticine. Put it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, let's prepare the nuts.

    4. Lightly roast the peeled peanuts, then cool them and finely grind. Pour them onto a wide plate and set aside for now.

    5. Roll out the dough, cut out the cookies using special cookie cutters (if you don't have cutters, use a regular cup with a wide diameter). Be sure to make a small indentation in the center.

    6. To help the nuts stick better to the pieces, brush the surface with beaten egg white. Dip each ring and place them on a baking sheet.

    7. Bake the cookies in the oven at 180 degrees for 25 minutes. Once baked, remove the cookies and let them cool completely.
