Eggless shortcrust pastry
Description
Everyone in my family loves baked goods, but since we never have much time to prepare them, I try to find quick recipes that require minimal effort and ingredients. This simple eggless shortcrust pastry recipe is one of my favorites because it allows me to quickly and easily make not only delicious cookies but also various little cakes. Plus, this eggless shortcrust recipe can always be varied slightly by adding vanilla, cinnamon, or nutmeg—so each time you'll get something new and exciting. Serve it with tea or coffee.

Step 1

First, we need to leave the butter at room temperature for about an hour so it softens. Then, place the butter into a bowl and mash it with a fork.

Step 2

Into a bowl with softened butter, add sugar and rub the mixture until the sugar granules become smaller. If you skip this step, you will feel the sugar granules in the finished cookies or cake.

Step 3

To the resulting mixture, add salt and 2.5 cups of flour initially, then rub everything with your hands until fine crumbs form.

Step 4

Add sour cream to the flour crumbs and knead the dough, adding a little more flour if necessary.

Step 5

The finished dough should be soft, elastic, and definitely smooth. Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30–40 minutes; after that, you can confidently proceed to rolling it out.
