Barley porridge in the microwave
Description
This recipe won't take much time. As you know, barley is a real treasure trove of vitamins, so it's worth including it in your diet as often as possible. Besides, it's inexpensive, pairs well with almost any side dishes, and is incredibly filling—you won't feel hungry for a long time after eating it. However, the long cooking time often causes problems: the water evaporates too quickly, or the porridge turns into clumps... But with this microwave method of cooking barley porridge, such issues have never occurred. So why not give it a try? Recipe: 1. First, thoroughly rinse the barley and soak it in clean water for at least a few hours, or preferably overnight. 2. Once the soaking time is up and the barley has swelled sufficiently, transfer it to a deep microwave-safe pot and pour in water. The water should cover the barley by about 2-3 centimeters. 3. Add salt, vegetable oil, and any spices according to what you plan to serve the porridge with. 4. Stir well, cover, and microwave on full power for 7 minutes. 5. Remove, stir again, and return to the microwave for another 5–7 minutes. 6. Once done, don't take the porridge out just yet—let it sit, covered, in the microwave for about 10 more minutes. That's it! Call everyone to enjoy a fragrant, hearty, and healthy fluffy barley porridge! Healthy food has never hurt anyone, and if you serve the barley with sautéed onions and carrots, or with a meat sauce, gravy, or salad, you'll have a complete, satisfying meal for the whole family :) I hope you'll enjoy this simple recipe for microwave barley porridge. Serve hot.
