
Barley porridge cooked in water
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Barley porridge has long been known for its beneficial properties: it cleanses the gastrointestinal tract, reduces cholesterol levels, and is rich in useful elements. Barley cooked in water can be eaten during fasting or on a detox day. To cook barley in water, either soak the grain in water beforehand or briefly boil it before cooking. The finished dish can be served.

Rinse the grain thoroughly. Bring 3 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan. Add the grain and let it boil for 7 minutes.

After this, drain the grain in a colander and let the water drain off.

Pour 2 cups of water into a saucepan, add salt, and when the water boils, add the prepared grain and cover with a lid. Cook over low heat until thickened (about 25 minutes).

You can serve ready barley porridge with vegetables, butter or sunflower oil. Add spices to taste. It's very tasty with adjika and fresh herbs, by the way.
